WELCOME TO PE AT DEERFIELD ELEMENTARY
It is an honor to work at Deerfield Elementary School. It is my goal to instill in children a lifelong love of physical activity. We may not all play professional sports, but finding an activity that you enjoy makes it easier to pursue a lifetime of health and wellness.
I completed my Bachelors of Arts degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management at Clemson University in 2005. I completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching at the University of South Carolina in 2013. This year I am coaching the offensive line at Gilbert Middle School and helping with statistics for the White Knoll High School Varsity Football team. When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our pets, going to Clemson football games, and hunting.

When we start a new unit in the classroom, we first work to master the basic skills that lead to the activity. We spend extensive time devoted to basic throwing, catching, and kicking to build coordination. Learning fundamental skills properly prepares children to excel when they apply the techniques to playing actual games.
My Philosophy
I believe that Physical Education is a key component to success. Young people need a secure, caring, stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, physically, and socially. Students should be challenged in a safe environment. The teacher should act as a guide to promoting respect for all things and all people. We try to facilitate these values in each lesson and offer a range of activities so that each child has the opportunity to test different strengths and excel. We hope to build a lifelong love of physical activity through the physical education curriculum at Deerfield Elementary.
